Jennifer's Sewing Area - A Work in Progress

May 15, 2003

I've made a lot of changes since November! At the far left of the first picture, you can just see the gate between my sewing area and my daughter's playroom. I got 4 wooden shelving units from IKEA and put all my junk on them - amazing how boxes on the floor are messy, while boxes on shelves are neat! The shelves tilt a bit, which could be that the floor isn't even, or could be that the shelves were cheap. Or both. :-) Turning to the right, you can see my cutting table, then ironing board (which is very unsteady and scheduled for elimination soon. I might get or make an ironing pad to go on top of the table instead of a new ironing board. I hate the narrow width of the ironing board when I'm pressing large pieces of fabric before cutting them. Finally, my new sewing setup - a Koala cabinet. I love having the sewing machine bed even with the table, although I do take it out sometimes to use the free arm (unlike Linda F.!) My serger fits below the two drawers (barely) so I can fold up and lock the entire cabinet if I want, although I rarely do so, since the gate keeps my toddler out of the area for now.
